Welcome to the fourth bi-annual International Conference of the HUMAINE Association on Affective Computing and Intelligent Interaction (ACII2011), which will be held in Memphis, Tennessee on October 9 to 12, 2011.

ACII is the premier forum for state of the art research on affective and multimodal intelligent systems. This year we are encouraging papers and presentations on a range topics from the interdisciplinary arena encompassing Computer Science, Engineering, Affective Computing, Virtual Agents, Artificial Intelligence in Education, Psychology, and the Affective, Cognitive, and Social Sciences.

ACII 2011 proceedings will be published by Springer as part of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series.

Authors of a selected subset of accepted papers will be invited to publish expanded versions in IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing.

The conference will be held at the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis, which is a large urban campus at the center of the city. Home of the Blues and the birth place of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Memphis is renowned for its rich musical history and Southern Hospitality.

The organizing committee gratefully acknowledges the following sponsors of ACII 2011
